I’ve been in the fantasy football league my friend started for the last ten years. I am proud of this league as every owner competes and is involved virtually through the end even if they’re out of playoff competition.
We had the draft last Saturday and here’s the squad I’m rolling with this season. I had the twelfth (and thirteenth) pick in the draft.
QB: Deshaun Watson (keeper) – really hoping he holds form from the dominant weeks he had pre-injury.
RB: Alex Collins – Went WR-WR first two so Collins was the best available at that point.
RB: Rex Burkhead – Patriots claim they’ll involve him “heavily” in their offense early.
WR: Julio Jones – Four 1400-yd seasons in a row. Who cares about TD’s, amirite?
WR: Odell Beckham Jr. – The new highest-paid WR in NFL history has Jalen Ramsey week 1.
TE: Trey Burton – Really excited to see what Burton can do now out of the shadow of Zach Ertz.
FLEX: Adam Thielen – Didn’t expect to get Thielen this late, am starting four 1000-yd receivers week 1
FLEX: Marvin Jones – Everyone’s all Kenny Golladay. I’m all “remember this guy?”
K: Matt Bryant – Dome kicker in a big offense. Fine with this.
DEF: Detroit Lions – Initially drafted an improving GB defense but Lions get the Jets week-1.
BN: John Brown
BN: Peyton Barber
BN: Ty Montgomery
BN: Chris Godwin
BN: James White
BN: Robby Anderson
I’m particularly proud of my later-round picks. Peyton Barber and Robby Anderson look like they will be handed full-time roles and Anderson should be a featured player as Sam Darnold grows. There’s universal praise for Chris Godwin and John Brown in the preseason and James White is my handcuff for Rex Burkhead.
